ATLANTA (Nov. 19, 2010) – Everest College opened its first campus in Southwest Atlanta on Nov. 15 to help meet the growing demand for hands-on, career-focused education in the metro Atlanta area.

The Atlanta West campus is located at 2841 Greenbriar Parkway SW, Atlanta, GA 30331, near the Greenbriar Mall in the former home of Cub Foods grocery store.

Everest is the exclusive tenant for 45,000-square feet of the facility, which recently underwent $5.5 million of renovations and has capacity for 1,300 students. The campus has also created jobs, bringing approximately 100 positions for faculty and other staff to the area.

“We look forward to serving students in the Southwest Atlanta area,” said Campus President Sedrick Strickland. “We believe this part of Atlanta is under-served for career training, especially in the face of an on-going recession and funding cutbacks at public post-secondary institutions. We plan to make our programs readily accessible by offering courses during the day, evenings, and on weekends. In addition, the new campus is conveniently located next to the freeway and public transportation corridors.”

The new location of Everest College will offer 10 diploma and degree programs and features interactive classroom technology such as Wi-Fi, laptops and SMART boards. The diploma programs includes: medical assistant, medical insurance billing and coding, massage therapy, medical administrative assistant, dental assistant and pharmacy technician. Associate degree programs, which will be added in 2011, will include criminal justice, paralegal, business and accounting.
