Health Care Still Healthy in Gloomy Economy
Posted Thursday, Jun 9, 2011 by Allen B. Ury
The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) June 3, 2011 jobs report was not encouraging with the economy producing only 54,000 jobs in May. However, if the report contained any good news, it was in the health care sector, which expanded by 17,000 jobs in May. This represented more than 30 percent of all job growth nationwide for the period. For the last 12 months, the health care sector has been one of the economy’s most robust, adding an average of 24,000 jobs every month between May 2010 and May 2011, according to the BLS. *
