Utah Looking for Registered Nurses

Posted Friday, Dec 30, 2011 by Allen B. Ury

Registered NurseUtah has one of the healthiest job markets for Registered Nurses (RN) in the United States. The state’s Department of Workforce Services projects that more than 1,100 RN positions will open up between 2008 and 2018 (the most recent 10-year period for which data is available), representing an annual growth rate of 41 percent. This compares to an annual growth rate of 22 percent for RNs nationwide, according to O*NET Online, the Web-based employment information centered sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor.*

To become an RN, one must first pass the NCLEX-RN examination. And a good way to prepare for that, as well for the demands for the nursing profession, is to earn a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Everest College in Salt Lake City.

The Everest Nursing Program

The Everest Nursing program combines traditional classroom instruction with direct hands-on education in a simulated health care environment. Nursing students learn subjects ranging from pharmacology to management techniques from instructors with actual nursing experience. And unlike bachelor’s degree programs found at most traditional colleges and universities, Everest’s program focuses solely on subjects relevant to the study and practice of nursing.

Career Services

Upon graduation, Nursing students are ready to take the NCLEX-RN examination. Passing earns them the title “Registered Nurse.” At this point, Everest’s Career Services representatives can help them find positions in clinics, health care centers and other medical facilities. Nursing graduates can use Everest’s Career Services support even after they’ve graduated if they so choose.
