The objective of the Practical Nurse Program is to provide the student with the appropriate didactic theory and hands-on skills required and necessary, to prepare them for entry level positions as licensed practical nurse in today´s health care centers clinics, and facilities.

The combination of introduced skills taught in this program, will prepare students for the ever-changing field of nursing and health care. Students study fundamental principles and practices of nursing, anatomy and physiology, infection control, asepsis and patient care skills, pharmacology, nursing process and health care of client throughout their life span and in addition to their clinical rotations, students also have the opportunity to practice their skills in the clinical skills lab. Clinical skills competency will be assessed at the completion of Pharmacology and the completion of each level.

Also covered in this program will be the ethical and legal responsibilities of the practical nurse as they relate to the health care facility, the client, and co-workers. Professionalism and general communication skills, both of which are considered essential to any health care professional, are also taught and addressed throughout the entire program.
