The objective of the Practical Nursing Diploma program (called Vocational Nursing in Texas and California) is to provide the student with the appropriate didactic theory, and hands-on skills required and necessary to prepare them for a career as a practical nurse.
The combination of introduced skills taught in this program, will prepare students for the ever-changing field of nursing and health care. Students study fundamental principles and practices of nursing, anatomy and physiology, infection control, asepsis and patient care skills, pharmacology, nursing process and health care of client throughout their life span and in addition to their clinical rotations, students also have the opportunity to practice their skills in the clinical skills lab. Clinical skills competency will be assessed at the completion of Pharmacology and the completion of each level.
Also covered in this program will be the ethical and legal responsibilities of the practical nurse as they relate to the health care facility, the client, and co-workers. Professionalism and general communication skills, both of which are considered essential to any health care professional, are also taught and addressed throughout the entire program.
Graduates of the practical nursing program can pursue entry-level positions in many of today's health care centers, clinics and facilities.
Graduates of our basic nursing program, or Practical Nursing, will receive a diploma and are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN® (The National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses) licensing examination. Upon successful passing of the NCLEX-PN® examination, the graduate can use the initials LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse).
Graduates of our basic nursing program in Texas and California, or Vocational Nursing, will receive a diploma and are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN® (The National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses) licensing examination. Upon successful passing of the NCLEX-PN® examination, the graduate can use the initials LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse).
