Electrician Program Overview

Electricians bring the electricity you need into your home and workplace. They install, maintain, repair and replace the cables, wires and connections that deliver the power used every second of every day. They help make sure electrical systems are safe and secure. When the power fails due to bad weather, transformer breakdowns or other issues, they move to quickly restore the flow of energy.

At Everest, you can get the scientific, technical and mathematical skills you need to qualify for electrician assistant and apprentice positions across the United States. Everest's Electrician instructors are industry professionals who provide a hands-on classroom experience for their students. You'll learn in a modern workshop setting using real tools of the trade.

Note: Program schedules and availability vary by campus.

Electrician Careers

When you graduate from Everest's Electrician career training program, you can be qualified to compete for jobs as an entry-level electrician's assistant or apprentice. These are the first steps on a long, somewhat standardized career path that can eventually take you to the level of journeyman electrician and, ultimately, master electrician.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects a 14% increase in the number of jobs available for both apprentice electricians and fully qualified electricians through 2024. The BLS considers that growth "much faster" than average for all occupations.

Electricians are usually employed in either construction or industrial maintenance. Some electricians work in both fields, but most focus on a single specialty. Electricians specializing in construction work install wiring systems in factories, businesses and new homes. Industrial electricians install, repair and upgrade electrical systems in factories, refineries and similar large-scale industrial facilities.

Note: Program availability, version and schedules vary by campus. Please check your campus catalog for specific details about which electrician programs are available.
